If your son has an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) the process of admission to The Harbour School is via the Statutory Assessment and Resources Team (START). The SEN Casework Officers will be able to advise you on the processes available for considering The Harbour School as an appropriate provision for your child. They will ensure that appropriate assessments are carried out and information gathered from parents, carers, children and young people, and relevant professionals.

Telephone 01480 372 600
Once papers are received from the START team the school will review these and if felt The Harbour may be a suitable placement parents and carers are offered the opportunity to visit the school with their child and to discuss the provision that the school offers with the Head teacher, and to have an assessment carried out. Where possible the child/young person will also be visited in their current placement.
If felt appropriate a place will be offered by the school and START, provided that there is a place available in the appropriate year group and that the school is able to make the provision as specified in the EHCP. New pupils tend to start at the beginning of new terms – not midterm.
Once the place has been confirmed the school will arrange a home visit so that you as parents and carers can provide our school with any important information that will support your child's admission to our school. At this meeting transition programmes will be discussed and arranged.
Prior to admission all parents and carers are asked to sign the Home School Agreement, which sets out what the parents and carers and our school expect of each other.
